Peggy De Wire, retired Tri-Valley School Kindergarten teacher, author of Ye Olde Tri-Valley Townsman's 'Getting in Touch with Nature' column holds a record-size giant puff ball in her hands.  When the puffball was first discovered it was a brilliant white.

Within three days it became a little shriveled and was a mottled yellow with brown accents.

See Peggy's informative  article in the September 13th edition of Ye Olde Tri-Valley Townsman.

Notice the large gash in the top of the puffball.  Other marks on the puffball indicate that perhaps a rabbit had a tasty snack!

Peggy is a petite little lady, but nevertheless, you can see that this puffball was of record size.

It is almost twice as big as Peggy's head and certainly larger around the middle than Peggy!

There were other large puffballs found nearby this one, but Peggy tells us that she cooked them and they were delicious!

This was the unveiling of the giant puffball.

Not a brain, or a model of the moon, but the largest puffball that most of us have ever seen!

In this picture Peggy is showing us the difference in size from some of the very smallest puffballs

to the giant Tri-Valley puffball found in Grahamsville!

So now, Tri-Valley will not just be known for the "Giant Pumpkin Party and Children's Parade" which will be held on Saturday, October 7th, 2007, but now we also have Peggys' Giant Puffball !

Be sure to read Peggy's Nature Column in the

September 13th Edition of Ye Olde Tri-Valley Townsman

for more information on the incredible puffball
